WICC appeals to the President of Ukraine and a member of the negotiation team to ensure gender-sensitive peace talks

The Women’s Information Consultative Center (WICC) has submitted two official letters — to the President of Ukraine and to the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, a member of the negotiation team — urging for a gender-responsive and just approach in Ukraine’s peace process.

In the first letter (February 2025), we called on the government to:

  • Ensure adequate representation of women in negotiation delegations
  • Engage women’s organizations and peacebuilding experts in consultations

Apply gender analysis in decision-making

In August 2025, we followed up with a letter to Mr. Kyslytsia, a member of the negotiation team, with concrete demands for the content of Ukraine’s negotiation position — based on consultations with women’s CSOs:

Extradition of russian servicemen suspected of war crimes, including CRSV

  • Unconditional release of all prisoners of war
  • Return of abducted Ukrainian children
  • Right of return for all Ukrainian citizens from occupied territories and from russia
  • Safe access to occupied territories without persecution or filtration
  • Protection of property rights for displaced persons

Both letters reflect WICC’s ongoing advocacy to implement the principles of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace and Security” and promote a more inclusive and just peace process.
