Presentation of the Olena Semikolenova Memorial Scholarship

NGO "Women's Information and Counseling Center" selected for the Olena Semikolenova Scholarship for Ukrainian researchers for short-term training or research, other initiatives that will promote the implementation of the principle of gender equality in Ukrainian society.

Vladislav Ierusalimov, an analyst at the Laboratory of Legislative Initiatives, became a scholarship holder. The experience in the field of gender research is based on the work on the Policy Paper "Policy Proposals for Gender Equality in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine", monitoring the implementation of equal rights and opportunities for women and men at the local level. He completed a course on gender analysis of public policy and training on "Gender and Elections".

As part of the scholarship competition, Vladyslav initiated a study on "The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 8th convocation: problems, challenges and achievements in the implementation of gender policy."

The purpose of the study: to evaluate the activities of the Verkhovna Rada of the 8th convocation in order to provide public awareness of the state of legislative and institutional support of the policy of equal rights and opportunities for women and men to the public and other stakeholders.

Objectives of the study:

· To study registered bills and already adopted laws aimed at realizing equal rights and opportunities for women and men;

· Investigate how political factions and groups voted for laws that promote gender policy;

· On the basis of the above, break down political forces and individual groups that support / hinder the implementation of gender equality policy;

· To investigate precedents of sexism and ethical violations by people's deputies of Ukraine and the relevant conclusions of the Committee on Rules of Procedure;

· On the basis of the research to prepare an assessment of the implementation of gender policy in the activities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 8th convocation.
